Bali gets the full force of southern ocean swells direct from the antarctic with its south-west and south-east coasts being littered with surf spots.
Bali doesn't really have an off season with year round waves depending on the location that you place yourself around the island.
You can wear boardies all year round in Bali with water temps averaging 25-26 degrees. Booties are recommended when surfing the reef breaks.
Nestled between Bali to the west and Sumbawa to the east sits Lombok.

The best known surf break in Lombok is Desert Point, but there are plenty of other options for all standard of surfers with nine major surfing destinations located all around the Lombok coast. Depending on wind and swell directions."
You can surf in boardshorts, water temperature is 27 degrees centigrade on average. A top long sleeve remains highly recommended for sun protection. It’s best to also bring booties, the reefs are alive.
