Surf Regions South Africa
Located at the southern tip of Africa. It has 2,798 kilometres of coastline that stretches along the South Atlantic and Indian oceans.
Sitting directly in the path of the Roaring 40s this is one of the most consistent areas in the world. Split into three main areas, the Western Cape Town side, the south facing which holds J Bay and the Garden Route towards and the east around Durban where the city beaches can produce epic, glassy barrels.
Travelling to South Africa in the summer months you will need a 3.2 steamer to keep warm on the Atlantic side, board shorts or a spring suit is sufficient on the Indian Ocean side. In the winter months include a 4.3 steamer for the Atlantic side and a 3.2 steamer for the Indian side.
With nearly 3500kms of coastline, Morocco is a land of sights and wonders that could lead you to the perfect surf destination.
September to April is the best surf season in this area, and through winter, the South Atlantic can send some decent size swells charging in to the coastline's famed long right handers with good consistency.
Strong northerly winds blow from mid-April and will make a mess of most spots until the northern hemisphere autumn, although there's usually not a lot of swell around this time anyway.
Water temps are from around 16°C / 61°F in January rising to 22°C / 72°F in July / August, so we recommend a steamer for all but the summer months.
